(CNN Spanish) – Lyndia Quiroz Zavala will remain as director of the National Tourism Promotion Fund (Fonatur), a public institution in charge of planning and developing tourism projects in Mexico, in the next Government of Claudia Sheinbaum, who will assume the presidency on October 1.

Quiroz Zavala studied a degree in Tourism Business Administration at the Universidad del Mayab (Yucatán), according to his official profile.

Since 2013 it has been affiliated with the Morena party. In 2012 she was elected as party leader in Yucatán and, from 2018 to 2020 she worked as subdelegate of the Welfare Secretariat in Mérida.

She was development director at Fonatur until 2023, when she assumed the position of general director after the departure of Javier May to run for governor of Tabasco.

During the Government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador, Fonatur was in charge of the construction and administration of the Mayan Train, until the president transferred the project to the Secretariat of National Defense in 2023.

Before joining politics, Quiroz was director of Inmobiliaria Bacabri, as director of planning and administration.
