The exports to Israel They fell by 452 million between November 2023 and June 2024 compared to the same previous period (November 2022 to June 2023). It was just in October 2023 when the Hamas terrorist attacks on Israeli soil. As a result, the Pedro Sánchez Government’s rudeness to Israel was continuous, to the point that the Hamas terrorists have on several occasions flattered the policy of the social-communist Executive, favorable to the recognition of Palestine.

Specifically, according to official data from the Secretary of State for Commerce collected by OKDIARIO, from November 2022 to June 2023exports from Spain to Israel reached 1,529,154,584 euros, while from November 2023 to June 2024 the figure fell to 1,067,702,118 euros, which represented a drop of 452,452,466 euros (452 million). That is, a decline of 29.5%.

For its part, Vox asked the Government of Pedro Sánchez in the Congress of Deputies through a written parliamentary question about the “commercial cost” of the “deterioration” of relations between Spain and Israel. In this case, the Executive responded – according to the parliamentary response consulted by this newspaper – that “exports from Spain to Israel were
1,907 million euros in 2023 (last full year), which represented a setback compared to the record reached in 2022 (2,159 million euros).

Likewise, the Sánchez Government admits that Imports also decreased from 1,054 million of euros in 2023 until
973 million euros in 2022. For this reason, and far from attributing these numbers to Sánchez’s rudeness to Israel – which have resulted in several diplomatic clashes -, the Executive limits itself to saying that “from all of the above a slight contraction of Spain’s surplus balance against Israel in 2023, which has remained positive since 2011 and also reached its historical record in 2022.

For the Sánchez Administration, “throughout 2023 the slowdown in Spanish exports could already be observed, largely due to the environment of uncertainty that led to significant depreciation of the shekelharming European exports,” says the Executive.

On the other hand, he adds, “the slowdown in GDP growth has also influenced this fall.” «If the evolution of Spanish exports to Israel is analyzed until September 30, 2023, that is, seven days before the Hamas attacks, we see how Spanish exports reached 1,570 million euros, compared to 1,626 million of euros for the same period in 2022, which was already 3.44% less,” the Government tries to justify itself, omitting that this percentage later increased.

Furthermore, the Executive maintains that “after the start of the war, the Israeli economy faced, first, an almost total paralysis and, subsequently, a gradual recovery, although it is still far from being complete.”

“The continuity of the war over time and the risk of the conflict expanding into a regional war do not bode well for Israel’s economy in the current year,” the report also says. Moncloa’s response.

In 2023, always according to Government data, exports to Israel accounted for 0.5% of Spain’s total exports (occupying number 30 in terms of value) and imports from Israel accounted for 0.23% of imports. Spain’s totals (occupying number 57 in terms of value).

Conversely, Spain constitutes a market of great relevance for Israel, since exports from Spain to Israel represent 2% of the
Israeli imports. Furthermore, near the 2% of Israeli exports are destined for Spain.

Already in November 2023, the Hamas terrorists showed their gratitude to Pedro Sánchez for the Government’s position towards Israel in a statement in which they thanked him for condemning “the indiscriminate killings” of the “occupying State of Israel.”

“We appreciate the clear position of the President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, who has condemned the indiscriminate killings carried out in the occupation of the Gaza Strip by the occupying state of Israel and has spoken of the possibility of recognizing the Palestinian State,” said the terrorist group Hamas in a statement on social networks.

Thus, Hamas’ statements in this regard have been occurring in recent months. Last May, terrorists celebrated the decision of the Spanish Prime Minister to formally recognize Palestine.

“The announcement by Norway, Ireland and Spain to recognize the State of Palestine and we consider it to be an important step on the path to materializing our right to our land and establishing our independent Palestinian State, with Jerusalem as its capital,” the terrorist group stated in a note published in the Palestinian newspaper Filastina medium close to Hamas.
