The former German goalkeeper, 54, was leaving the Oktoberfest when the police stopped him and asked him to take a breathalyzer test. Lehmann, visibly affected by alcohol, refused to do so, so he was immediately arrested. Lehmann was still dressed in the traditional costume of this festival, the leather pants typical of the Bavarian region.
«Mr Lehmann was subjected to a police check on September 23, 2024 around 1:30 a.m. due to his unusual behavior when driving a car in the city center of Munich. Police noticed a clear odor of alcohol and an unsafe attitude. The breathalyzer test did not produce any usable results, so a blood sample was ordered and the driving license was confiscated,” reports the German Public Prosecutor’s Office.
Lehmann, goalkeeper for Schalke 04, Milan, Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal and Stuttgart during his sporting career, was protagonist in the last Euro Cup for ignoring Spain before the quarterfinal match in which his team, Germany, faced the team coached by Luis de la Fuente. «They are a small and inexperienced team, a youth team»said the one who was one of the most outstanding goalkeepers 20 years ago.
