(CNN) – The United States carried out two strikes in September in northwestern and central Syria, killing 37 terrorist operatives, the US said. US Central Command (CENTCOM) this Sunday.

One of the operatives killed in a Sept. 24 attack in northwest Syria was Marwan Bassam ‘Abd-al-Ra’uf, a senior Hurras al-Din leader, CENTCOM said. Hurras al-Din is an affiliate of al Qaeda and was said to be responsible for overseeing military operations in Syria.

The other attack, on September 16, targeted an ISIS training camp in central Syria, which CENTCOM said killed 28 operatives, including “at least four senior leaders.”

“These attacks against the leadership and operatives of ISIS and al Qaeda affiliate Hurras al-Din represent CENTCOM’s commitment to the lasting defeat of terrorist organizations in CENTCOM’s area of ​​responsibility and our support for regional stability,” said Gen. Michael Erik Kurilla, CENTCOM commander.
