The League has presented the salary limit numbers after the transfer market closed. The total amount that clubs have to allocate to salaries without putting their financial stability at risk is 2,608.1 million euros. A figure that is higher than that of the winter market (2,539.5) but that is masked by the considerable increase in equipment such as Barcelona and Betis –who have juggled for it– or the Girona, whose income will skyrocket this year by being in the Champions League. Between the three they present an increase of 277 million compared to February.
In the other eight teams that present better numbers, the variation is notable in cases such as real Madrid or two of the newly promoted: Leganes and Valladolid. In the rest –Athletic, Real Sociedad, Alavés, Las Palmas and Athletic- The difference is not excessively significant.
The problems appear with the nine clubs that have lost the ability to allocate money to total staff spending. It is about Sevilla, Espanyol, Getafe, Rayo Vallecano, Osasuna, Mallorca, Valencia, Celta and Villarreal. In total, they have now had 184.9 million less than the salary limit.
The most striking case is that of Seville. Due to the considerable decrease in income, not participating in European competition, after four years in a row in the Champions League and a Europa League won, and the poor management of its board, the Seville team present the worst figure of the 42 teams that make up the First and Second Division, with 2.5 million euros, when last year they had a margin of 152 million.
Four teams exceed the salary limit
Logically, they are overwhelmed, since the expenditure of their staff is much greater than those 2.5 million. Something that also happens to Spanish, which despite its promotion has a lower margin than last year in Second or even the Barcelona, that despite improving their economic situation compared to last season and doubling the amount available to allocate to salaries, they exceed that figure set by the employers.
Among those affected by this issue is also the Getafe. The blue team has had to do a real juggling act to be able to register its players in the League. In fact, just a few hours before the season began, the club only had nine outfield players available, since the rest were not registered.
The situation of the Betis. The green and white team was in a very complicated situation, but after a capital increase and the departure of Fekir and Rodri, They have a salary margin of 109 million euros, which means they are currently within the 1:1 rule, as they are not exceeded.
