The National Police have arrested a man from Moroccan origin who belonged to the criminal organization in which agricultural businessmen from Mallorca earned between 15,000 and 22,000 euros to Moroccan seasonal workers illegal for a work contract that would allow them to come to Spain on a regular basis.
This arrest is in addition to the other two last August when two agricultural businessmen from Mallorca were arrested for the same events. All of them are accused of the crimes of trafficking in human beings for labor exploitationfavoring irregular immigration and belonging to a criminal organization.
In this way, the National Police has reported that Group I of Ucrif closes the siege on those responsible for this irregular immigration plot related to a company in the agricultural sector in Mallorca, although more arrests are not ruled out.
All in all, the three defendants made profits, since they also earned between 6,000 and 8,000 euros for employment contracts that served foreign citizens to regularize their situation in Spain. Specifically, the total number of people who would have regularized their situation in Spain through said company would be a total of 26.
Abusive working conditions
Due to the debt incurred and the need to maintain your contract and not lose their status and conditions of regular residence in Spain, foreigners were forced to accept abusive working conditions and contrary to labor agreements.
After the arrest of the two relatives responsible for the agricultural company investigated, the investigators focused the investigation on the location and arrest of the person responsible for recruiting foreign citizens in Morocco.
This person, a Moroccan, was in Morocco when the company’s leaders were arrested, so it was not possible to locate him at that time. The investigators, however, never lost sight of his activities, subjecting him to constant scrutiny, which allowed their interception upon his arrival at the Palma airport on flight from Morocco.
This allowed the intervention of sensitive documentation for the investigation, which reinforced the evidence collected so far and made it possible to verify the ‘modus operandi’ of the criminal organization.
On the occasion of the interception of the documentation, and based on the evidence already collected previously, the recruiter was arrested this past Monday, September 16, as the alleged perpetrator of the crimes of trafficking in human beings for the purposes of exploitation. labor, favoring irregular immigration and belonging to a criminal organization.
