In a move that solidifies the Dallas Cowboys’ offensive future, star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb has agreed to a monumental four-year, $136 million contract extension, according to reports from ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The deal, which includes a staggering $100 million in guarantees and a $38 million signing bonus—the largest ever given to a wide receiver—marks Lamb as the second-highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history, trailing only Minnesota Vikings’ Justin Jefferson.

This contract comes on the heels of Lamb’s dominant 2023 season, where he set career highs with 135 receptions, 1,749 yards, and 12 receiving touchdowns, earning him first-team All-Pro honors and his third consecutive Pro Bowl selection. Despite the weight of contract negotiations, the 25-year-old stayed laser-focused on the field, further cementing his status as one of the league’s elite pass-catchers.

Lamb’s holdout from training camp this summer underscored his desire to be compensated as one of the NFL’s top receivers, a goal he has now achieved. The Cowboys, recognizing his unparalleled value, placed Lamb’s contract negotiations as a top priority, even ahead of extensions for quarterback Dak Prescott and defensive powerhouse Micah Parsons.

The Cowboys are now positioned to maintain their potent passing attack, with Lamb continuing to be the go-to target for Prescott, who has formed a remarkable connection with the young receiver since Lamb was drafted 17th overall in 2020. Lamb’s ability to dominate both in the slot and on the outside has made him a versatile weapon for Dallas, with his 2023 season including a record-breaking seven games with at least 11 receptions—an NFL first.

As the Cowboys prepare for their season opener against the Cleveland Browns on September 8, all eyes will be on the dynamic duo of Prescott and Lamb, who are expected to lead Dallas in their quest for postseason success. With Lamb now locked in through 2028, the Cowboys have secured a cornerstone of their offense for years to come, but questions remain about Prescott’s future as his contract situation looms large.

With Lamb’s extension now finalized, the Cowboys’ front office can shift its focus to ensuring that Prescott remains in Dallas long-term. As the clock ticks down to the start of the season, the pressure is on to keep their star quarterback in the fold and continue building around the formidable Prescott-Lamb connection.
