Specifically, Ecopetrol has decided to temporarily suspend the supply of natural gas to companies that have conditional firmness contracts, which guarantee supply as long as there is no shortage contingency.

This measure is justified by the prolonged lack of rain that has affected the country and which, in turn, would be causing an energy crisis in Colombia. However, companies that have gas purchase option contracts, which include insurance or special protection in situations of shortage, will not be affected for this suspension.

Ecopetrol’s decision is framed within the regulations that regulate the supply of natural gas in the Colombian wholesale market.
