On July 11, 2024, PlayStation announced that the beta pre-load for Concord is now available. Fans can join their Freegunner crew for the Early Access weekend starting tomorrow, July 12, and continue with the open beta on July 18.
What to Expect in the Concord Beta
Concord, developed by Firewalk Studios, is a new 5v5 hero shooter set in a vibrant sci-fi universe. Players will form teams as part of the Northstar crew, engaging in strategic battles across multiple planets. The Early Access beta will run from July 12 to July 14, giving players a chance to explore four distinct maps:
- Freewater: A sun-scorched planet with intersecting lanes and a central courtyard for intense combat.
- Water Hazard: A stormy planet featuring battles on a floating fishing rig and within the jaws of a massive eel.
- Star Chamber: An observatory with narrow corridors and a central meteorite for team fights.
- Shock Risk: Located beneath a lightning-harvesting kite, featuring unique arenas converging on a central tower.
During the Open Beta from July 18 to July 21, a fifth map, Bone Mines on the tropical planet Akkar, will be available. This map features close-quarters and mid-range combat in mining caverns filled with the remains of vastadons.

Game Modes in Beta
The beta will feature several game modes, catering to different playstyles:
- Trophy Hunt: A respawn mode where teams collect bounty cards from defeated rivals to earn points.
- Cargo Run: A no-respawn mode where teams compete to retrieve and defend a robotic package.
- Clash Point: A round-based, no-respawn mode focusing on controlling a single capture zone.
A new mode, Area Control, will be introduced during the Open Beta. This respawn mode has teams competing to control multiple zones to increase their score.
Character Diversity
Players will meet various characters from the Northstar crew, each bringing unique abilities and styles to the battlefield. Notable characters include Haymar, Vale, Lennox, and Star Child, along with others like It-Z, Teo, and Bazz.
Cinematic Vignettes
The beta will also include cinematic vignettes that introduce the story of the Northstar crew. These brief cinematics will provide glimpses into the characters’ backgrounds and motivations, with new vignettes premiering weekly when the full game launches.
Mark Your Calendar
The Concord Beta Early Access begins on July 12, 2024. Players who have pre-ordered the game can join the action this weekend. The Open Beta will follow from July 18 to July 21, open to all players. Concord is set to launch on August 23, 2024.
