A new attack on Donald Trump, therefore, two months after the one on July 13th during a rally in Pennsylvania. Let’s look at the facts.
At 1.30pm Florida time, 7.30pm Italian time, a man was arrested by the FBI and Secret Service for a “possible attempted assassination” of the former president. The suspect was lurking in the bushes at the edge of the Trump International Course, in West Palm Beach, while Trump was busy playing golf like every Sunday. When the former president arrived at hole number 5, about 350-450 meters away from the attacker, a security agent noticed the gun barrel and opened fire in that direction. Trump was taken away by escort.
The attacker fled, reached a car, a dark-colored Nissan, but was blocked by county sheriff’s patrols. At the time of his arrest, he did not resist and was not armed. An “AK-47 type” weapon with binoculars, two backpacks with ammunition and a GoPro camera were recovered from the hedges where he was hiding. “When we stopped him – explained the sheriff – he was relatively calm. He didn’t show emotions, he didn’t ask what was happening”.
