The Israeli Army announced this Sunday that it is attacking Hezbollah targets in Lebanon after detecting the launch of “115 air threats” by the Shiite group towards northern Israel in the last few hours.

“Army attacks will continue and intensify,” Israeli forces warned in a statement.

The pro-Iran Lebanese group claimed responsibility for the attacks this morning and last night against the Haifa area, where the authorities suspended classes today, and said they were directed against an Israeli arms factory and a military base.

At least two people were slightly injured and one is in moderate condition after being hit by shrapnel in the area, said the Israeli emergency service Magen David Adom (MDA).

According to Hezbollah, the attacks are an “initial response” to the explosions of thousands of the group’s communication devices this week, attributed to Israel, and which left more than 30 fighters dead.

The spokesman for the international press of the Israeli Army, Nadav Shoshani, highlighted that thousands of children in northern Israel cannot go to class today, shortly after the beginning of the school year, due to Hezbollah attacks, and recalled that some 60,000 people are still living evacuated since October, which she described as “intolerable.”

«Hezbollah is responsible for the situation we are in. “They started this, without provocation, on October 8,” the spokesperson said.

Israel intensified its attacks against the Lebanese group this week, killing at least 16 fighters, including two commanders, on Friday in a bombing in Beirut that also killed three minors and seven women, according to Lebanese authorities.

The situation raises fears of the outbreak of an open war in the region, despite the fact that Hezbollah has warned that it does not want to enter into a large-scale conflict and that its attacks would cease if a ceasefire agreement is reached in Gaza.
