President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) suffered a domestic accident at Palácio do Alvorada. The Chief Executive needed to be treated at the Sírio-Libanês Hospital, in Brasília, on Saturday (19), after suffering a head injury.

THE CNN found that Lula suffered a fall, but is fine and has already returned to Alvorada. The expectation is that the president will work normally at Palácio do Planalto on Monday (21).

According to the medical bulletin released by the presidency, Lula recorded a “blunt wound in the occipital region”. However, the note does not provide further details.

The term “blunt injury” refers to an injury caused by an impact that involves both a cut and a bruise. And the “occipital region” is at the back of the head.

According to the medical bulletin, the team that treated the president advised him to avoid long-distance air travel, but released him to carry out his other routine activities.

Because of the accident, Lula will no longer travel to the BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia. The Chief Executive will participate in the meeting via video conference. The initial forecast was that he would board this Sunday (20), at 5pm.

In fact, part of the Presidency of the Republic’s support team is already in Russia. Advance travel for members of the security, logistics and international relations areas is standard practice. The objective is to ensure the success of the operation.

President Lula was in São Paulo (SP) last Saturday (19), where he participated in a live broadcast alongside the Psol candidate for mayor of the capital of São Paulo, Guilherme Boulos. The head of the Executive returned to Brasília on the same day, in the afternoon.
