July 5, 2024 – Genshin Impact fans have something exciting to look forward to. The game’s version 4.8 update is set to introduce a new limited-time realm and a new 5-star character named Emilie, launching on July 17, 2024.
In this update, players will explore a fairytale-inspired wonderland, which will be available only for a limited time. This new realm is divided into several regions that will unlock over time. The adventure starts in a valley and expands northwest, ending in a vast lake connected by trams. This design is similar to the Mirage Veluriyam region from version 3.8, which was also popular among players.
The new character, Emilie, is a 5-star Dendro unit. Emilie is known as a renowned perfumer from Fontaine. She has been hinted at in the game through various NPC dialogues and character voice lines. Described as enigmatic and elusive, Emilie’s abilities focus on the Burning Elemental Reaction, making her a powerful off-field DPS character. Her talents increase Burn damage and reduce self-damage from Burn, making her a valuable addition to any team.

Aside from Emilie, the update will feature other fan-favorite characters such as Navia, Nilou, Wanderer, and Kirara. However, some fans might be disappointed to learn that Klee will not appear in this event, breaking the tradition of her summer presence. Players can also expect new outfits for Kirara, Nilou, and Wanderer, adding to the excitement of the update.
The update will go live following the typical maintenance schedule, starting at 4 am BST on July 17. Due to time zone differences, players in North America will receive the update on July 16 at 11 pm EST.
This update also brings a new permanent event to the game. Details are still emerging, but it seems to revolve around using keys earned through the new Abyss called the Imaginarium Theater. Completing certain challenges in this event will unlock special character trails, giving characters unique visual effects when moving. Characters such as Diluc, Jean, and Qiqi will receive these effects, adding another layer of personalization to the game.
