A new update for the PlayStation 5 is now available to download.

This brings a number of new features that will be “gradually rolled out in all regions”.

A personalized space

This includes the new Welcome Hub, a personalized area with various widgets that display console storage, accessory battery levels, friends, trophies and more on the PS5 home screen.

“The Welcome Hub is a redesigned version of the Discover tab, which was previously only available in the US,” it says. “It will roll out globally over the next few weeks and to select players in the United States starting today.”

Party Share is also new. This gives you the ability to share links to the party’s voice chat on messaging and social media apps. According to Sony, this feature will also be rolled out globally in the coming weeks.

Also new are some features that were last tested in the PS5 beta and are available worldwide from today, including personalized 3D audio profiles for headphones and earphones.

You can also set the Remote Play settings individually for each user and choose who can connect to the PS5 console via Remote Play.

Last but not least, there is adaptive charging for controllers, but it is only supported by the PS5 Slim and the upcoming PS5 Pro. This allows controllers to be charged even when the console is in sleep mode. The console adapts exactly to the time required to fully charge.

In case you missed it, this week Sony announced the PlayStation 5 Pro. It will be released on November 7, 2024 and costs 799.99 euros.
