During the “technical presentation” in the evening, Mark Cerny, lead architect of the PlayStation 5, officially announced and presented the PlayStation 5 Pro. The new console will come onto the market on November 7, 2024 and costs 799.99 euros in this country.
As Cerny explains, the aim is to reduce the boundary between performance and graphics modes. In other words: Better graphics quality with a higher frame rate at the same time.
Stronger hardware
This can be achieved, among other things, through a larger GPU with more computing units and faster RAM. All of this should result in 45 percent faster rendering.
Another aspect is “Advanced Ray Tracing” with an optimized calculation. The whole thing is two or three times faster than on the PlayStation 5.
There is also AI-driven upscaling aka PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution).

Other improvements include the “PS5 Pro Game Boost”, which applies to more than 8,500 backwards compatible PS4 games that will be playable on the PS5 Pro. The performance of supported PS4 and PS5 games can be stabilized or improved. Improved image quality or resolution is also possible depending on the game.
Wi-Fi 7, VRR and 8K gaming are still supported.

The height of the PS5 Pro corresponds to the other PS5 consoles that already exist. The width is also based on the existing model. A disc drive is not included, but you can use the separately available drive with it.
