The president of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmésopened this Friday the Son Ametller residence of the Asnimo Foundationwhich adds 20 new residential places and 20 day center places for people with intellectual disabilities and/or developmental disorders.

Galmés highlighted the importance of this inauguration since it represents a “step forward” in the island institution’s commitment to “the inclusion and well-being of people with disabilities”as explained through a statement. “The Consell works hand in hand with Asnimo to guarantee that all people who need it can live with dignity, support and autonomy,” he stated.

The inauguration was also attended by the Minister of Families and Social Affairs, Catalina Cirerthe director of the Asnimo Foundation, Tolo Marquezthe president of IMAS, Guillermo Sanchezand the insular director of People with Disabilities, Maria Francesca Rigo.

Currently, the Asnimo Foundation serves a total of 26 people in their day centers, 116 people through the occupational service -8 in orientation and job placement, 104 in occupational programs and 4 in pre-employment training- and 30 people in the supervised housing serviceall with intellectual disabilities and/or developmental disorders. In addition, the Consell de Mallorca, through IMAS, has a total of 148 places arranged with the entity.

Asnimo, who has been working for people with functional diversity in Mallorca for more than 40 years, is a “reference in the care of people with Down syndrome and autism spectrum disorders (ASD).

“The work that Asnimo does is essential for society and the Consell will support its work to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities,” concluded the president of the Consell.

The new residence, located in Palma, will allow its users to access adapted services that encourage your personal development and their inclusion in the community, in line with the person-centered care model that Asnimo promotes.
