The Passadiços de Mondego They are your next destination if you love hiking. As explained to us from the Portuguese website: «With a route along the banks of the Mondego River and its tributaries of about 12 km, the path begins next to the Caldeirão dam, built in 1988 to supply water to the municipality of Guarda, then extending through the valley, in the territories of the towns of Trinta, Vila Soeiro and ending in the mountains, in Videmonte. The route takes advantage of 5 km of existing roads and integrates a 7 km area of crossings, passes and suspension bridges with impressive landscapes and where trails, dams, waterfalls, levadas and mills abound. The Mondego Walkways are integrated into the Serra da Estrela Natural Park and the UNESCO Estrela World Geopark. The Itinerary includes Geosites such as the Miradouro do Mocho Real, escombreiras and gascalheiras, in Alto Mondego and also the vestiges of industrial heritage of old wool or electricity production factories, in the Thirties, testimonies of a past linked to the textile industry of this territory, where the famous potato blanket originated. But also older vestiges such as a Roman sidewalk and a medieval bridge (between Pêro Soares and Mizarela) that is believed to have arisen on an already existing bridge from Roman times.
