(CNN Spanish) – A third Colombian soldier died this Thursday due to the injuries he suffered from the attack with explosives registered this Tuesday at the Puerto Jordán base, in the department of Arauca, the Army reported on its X account.

The deceased soldier is Deputy First Sergeant Fabio Andrés Zúñiga Burbano, who joined the fatalities left by the aggression that the Government attributes to a faction of the armed group of the National Liberation Army (ELN).

This Tuesday, the Army reported that the attack had left two dead, soldiers Julián Patiño Arango and Bayron Andrés Correa Vargas, as well as 26 wounded who were receiving medical attention.

Throughout the week, these events have been condemned by various officials. The president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, said that this aggression “closes a peace process” between his government and the ELN.

CNN requested a comment on this matter from the ELN Delegation that participated in the peace talks with the government and is awaiting a response.
