Former President Donald Trump promised “major deportations” in Springfield, Ohio, a city that has become a political flashpoint because several Republicans, including Senator JD Vance, have spread false claims about Haitian immigrants eating pets in that city.

Trump assured on Friday that if he is elected president his plan to carry out the “largest deportation (of immigrants) in the history of the country” will begin in Springfield bound for Venezuela.

“This is what you can say: We will do mass deportations from Springfield. Let’s get those people out. “We are going to take her back to Venezuela,” Trump said at a press conference held at his golf club in Palos Verdes, California.

In his opinion, the “illegal Haitians” are destroying the way of life of the inhabitants of that area.

According to the city of Springfield’s website, the total immigrant population is estimated to be between 12,000 and 15,000 in Clark County, although it is not indicated which countries they are from. The FAQ section of their website notes that Haitian immigrants are there legally under the Immigrant Parole Program.

Trump claimed that “nests of bad people” are being emptied in the United States, calling it an “invasion from within.”

“They emptied their prisons in Venezuela, they emptied their criminals, they emptied their nests. They call them ‘nests of bad people’. Now they are all in the United States and they are taking over the cities. It is like an invasion from within and we are going to have the largest deportation in the history of our country. And we’re going to start with Springfield and Aurora,” Trump said.

Trump has been spreading the hoax for days that Haitians eat the cats and dogs of citizens in Springfield.

During Tuesday’s presidential debate, Trump stated: “Many cities don’t want to talk about it because they are embarrassed. In Springfield, the people who came are eating the dogs, they are eating the cats, they are eating the pets of the people who live there and this is what is happening in our country and it is a shame.”

These accusations have caused the Haitian community to be targeted, even receiving bomb threats that have forced the closure of schools in the last two days and other official facilities.

The president himself, Joe Biden, today asked that stop this rhetoric that is causing attacks against the Haitian community in the country.

“The Haitian American community is under attack in our country right now. It is incorrect. There is no place (for that) in the United States. “What he is doing has to stop, it has to stop!” Biden said.

Trump used much of his press conference to criticize his electoral opponent, Vice President and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris. accusing her again without evidence of facilitating the “largest wave of sex trafficking and human trafficking in history” with its policies on the border with Mexico.

Trump held Harris responsible for the deterioration of law and order in California through her policies as attorney general in that state (2011-2017) and as senator of the same state (2017-2021).

The two candidates faced each other on Tuesday in their first electoral debate and Trump reiterated on Friday that he is not interested in participating in another one with Harris and called the Democrat and the journalists who moderated the meeting organized by the ABC network “lunatics.”

“The debate was great, I think I did very well, but I was fighting against three people. “I was fighting the crazy left-wing radicals at ABC, in my opinion the worst broadcasters there are,” Trump mentioned.

His meeting with the press on Friday took place a day after he held a fundraising event in Los Angeles, a city that is considered by some experts to be the “cashier” of political parties due to the large sums of money that They manage to raise money in said city for their campaigns.

On Thursday, the Republican candidate had a rally in Tucson, Arizona, one of the key states for the presidential elections, and there he proposed eliminating overtime taxes to encourage employment.

The proposal arises in an attempt to win the vote of workers and joins a previous one in which she proposed eliminating taxes on tips in the service sector, an initiative that Harris formulated later, and after which she was accused of plagiarism by the republicans.
